WHAT BROUGHT ME HERE...
My professional adventure began at the end of my specialization in Clinical Psychology in Naples, after which I decided to move to London and become a psychotherapist.

When I arrived in that beautifully multiethnic and eccentric city, I began working with adults presenting with mental health problems and substance use/abuse, as well as with people who had suffered from brain injuries.
After some time, I started working in emergency psychiatric wards for men and women in a hospital in East London, where I stayed for about 6 years. This experience was particularly formative, both professionally and personally. Working closely with patients who were going through a though time, taught me to tiptoe into others' life and into the relationship, by adjusting to their pace and their needs.
Working closely with nurses, doctors and occupational therapists allowed me to actively participate in decisions affecting our patients and to provide an approach that primarily understood the individual, their history and their traumas, putting the "human being" first.
Working in an extremely multi-ethnic environment - with patients from different backgrounds/cultures/religions/languages - has certainly taught me to be creative in building the therapeutic relationship, to work with interpreters; to adopt a person-centered approach.
I have developed a strong curiosity to get to know the person in the room more, to know their story, to learn how "common" difficulties, such as anxiety or mood disorders, can yet be manifested so differently,
I would say that it is this curious approach that has been one of the key elements during my training as a psychotherapist.
I like to think that although I was trained according to a cognitive behavioral approach that has strong scientific evidence (I use techniques from Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Schema Therapy), beyond the technicalities and protocols, my approach is very much tailored to the needs of the other and what we produce in the therapeutic room -a space where we can feel ourselves without being judged and together open doors to explore ourselves.
I recently moved to Milan, which I think being as multicultural as London. I hope to apply what I learnt so far and I hope to enrich my practice and offer a tailored approach.
